Hot Father's day
First of all happy Father's Day to all the Dads.  My Dad died a few years ago so I am no longer able to talk to him and on days like today I really miss him.  See my post from January 2009.

However, I did have a very nice day.  I started with a bike ride.  I know we are definitely into summer but I did not know t got boiling hot here.  Literally.  While I was riding I saw this sign.

It seems it was just yesterday Elizabeth saw a sign showing the temperature to be 198 degrees BELOW zero.  Wait a minute, it was just yesterday.  Now those are some extreme temperatures.  Either that or we just have problem with time and temperature  signs in this area.

After breakfast and a shower we got ready for company.  It was a small group.  Just Elizabeth, myself, our daughter and her daughter and our daughter-in-law.  We also had our son check in from Korea via the internet.  Sometimes technology is wonderful.

After company left we ran a couple of errands.  After supper I took Candi for a walk and then we watched some television.  All in all a most wonderful day.  Thank you Elizabeth.

Caught in the rain
For the past week I have been fighting a summer cold.  I think it has just about run its course.  In fact I did not ride my bike yesterday due to it.  This morning when I got up I felt better and decide to go for a ride.  I checked the weather forecast and it showed a real live cool front on the way.  We very seldom get cool front this time of the year.  The forecast showed it would move through our area around 8.  I figured that really meant it would not be here until mid morning and I decided I had time to ride.  I typically get home around 9.  So off I went.  I did make the concession to stay in the general  area.  Things were going fine until I reached a turnaround and look back north.  The sky was full of very angry dark black clouds.  While it only 7:30 I decided it was time to head for home.  About 7:50 the actual front must have gone through as the temperature dropped at least 10 degrees in a matter of seconds.  I looked up the road and I could see it was raining, hard.  I was in front of an office building so I got under shelter on their front entryway.  It poured hard.  After about 20 minutes it had let up enough that I decided to head home.  I was soaked by the time I got home.  Of course in June it is typically in the upper 70's even when I start my ride and the humidity is at least that high so I am always soaked when I get home.  Just this time or was rain water soaked.  This morning when I started the temperature was 78 degrees.  Once home I got right into a warm shower and scrubbed the grime off.  After that I had breakfast and now I am blogging.  Breakfast was a hardy bowl of oatmeal, scrambled egg, half grapefruit, chocolate milk and tea.

I think today will be a relaxed day for us.  Elizabeth in working on her crafts.  The breakfast dishes are waiting for me in the sink.  It is still raining and it looks like we have gotten about an inch so far today.  now the temperature is only 70 so it really was a cool front.  After lunch Elizabeth wants to go to Barnes and Nobel.
